"The Stones Of Naples"

Prikosnovénie - 2009

CD

"The Stones Of Naples" is another trip through time and space, offering a music, that of Corde Oblique, that seems like a spring breeze bringing suggestions, colours and smells, softly rocking us with delicate guitars, violins, piano notes, and caressing us with intense female voices that remain impressed. After "Respiri" and "Volontà d’Arte", Riccardo Prencipe is now leading us to a trip through the stones of Naples, its history and monuments, as well as the suggestions and tales that the artist takes from them, mixing with fair originality the figure of the musician with that of an art historian. The album is a walk through the "black-eyed" city's regions, from Torre Annunziata port, Avella Castle to Barcellona, following an ideal path that becomes a meditation about art, a spontaneous tribute to the beauty of immortal places whose power remains untouched through the centuries.

For the release of "The Stones Of Neaples", Riccardo cooperates again with a group of artists that we already know, like Caterina Pontrandolfo , Floriana Cangiano, violin player Edo Notarloberti, pianist Luigi Rubino. Much like the previous albums, each artist gives its particular imprint to the tracks, perfectly mixed with the general mood of the whole album where the trait d’union is Riccardo’s guitar sound. Some tracks show the traditional ballad form, reminding of folk atmospheres, remote memories, nostalgic sunsets on the shore. Other songs have an epic tone, like beautiful "Flower Bud", where we can find Alessandra Santovito (Hexperos)’s voice and "Flying", a cover of Anathema’s homonym track.

I would like to signal the booklet enriched by beautiful and very evocative pictures, like the cover photo by Paolo Liggeri. "The Stones Of Naples" is a step forward in the Italian gothic folk scene, a gift full of emotions new but old at the same time.
