FALKENSTEIN
"Urdarbrunnen"
Heimatfolk / Kraftplatz Records - 2008
CD
Falkenstein is one of the most creative and productive acts in the German neofolk scene, following the path of Forseti, Stumpercht and Orplid. Their brand-new album "Urdarbrunnen" is now released by the Steinklang / Ahnstern neofolk daughter-label Heimatfolk and has been conceived closely to the self-produced debut-album "Heiliger Wald". It confirms that their music is classical neofolk in the best tradition, with beautiful lyrics about trees and woods, fairy tales, mysticism, pagan rites and so on.
Falkenstein are good musicians, these fourteen ballads are based on acoustic guitar sounds and a powerful rough voice, refined by sporadic tribal inklings, martial rhythms, keyboards, violins. Best moments of the album are the first track "Funkenfeuer", the pop rhythm of "Unter der Weide" and the enchanting flute sounds evoking the natural rites of the Alpine regions.
