"Mithrasliturgie"

Monochrome Arts / Hagal - 2009

CDr / 100 copies

Excellent work. The ability and experience achieved by Doktor Pery with Satanismo Calibro 9 find here another much welcome confirm. Powerful and disturbing, "Mithrasliturgie" leads us towards Mother Nature's dark abyss, from which everything comes and eventually returns. A single track that uncoils along the indented profile of Northern Italy's Alpine mountain chain, trying to grasp its most mysterious aspects, like the author lets us know. Paradoxical work. A distant echo from a world that is lost just in appearance, but brought back by Doktor Pery, by resurrecting the ancient ceremony with which Roman legionaries used to celebrate their chosen god: Mithras.

Ah, our time! Ultra-fast, ultra-technological, so vane to exchange being with appearing, a time that buried death under unconditional reflections of repressed desires. There's nothing left but music, the soul's kneeling-stool, in front of which the night's dancing shadows weave phantasmagorical arabesques, while spoken words leave the scene to electronics' spells. Our time, which decoding of present language to express everlasting ancestral meanings turns into a reason for living. Behind every taboo lurks a hidden desire. And every desire subverts the established order, be it spiritual or material.

Traditional work. Following the well-traveled path of dark ambient (definitions always fit a bit tight, but whatever), rather than frightening, Doktor Pery fascinates, rather than cursing he conjures, rather than destroying he creates, rather than screaming he listens. A work that captures you from the very beginning, where darkness and the thick woods swept by a Northern cold wind keep the bold hearts of those living constantly side-to-side with death. Nerofosco... just to oblige!
