This very limited edition CD (167 copies, numbered from 500 to 666!) marks the official debut, after two CDr releases, of Satanismo Calibro 9, a new very intriguing entity of the Italian industrial underground. They've already risen interest around themselves with effective live performances, in which the band members appear on stage wrapped in long black hoods and capes, building inexorable walls of slaughtering white noise. "Supernova" comes as a much welcome surprise, as in the studio SC9 keep fortunately distance from cheap cacophony, preferring to explore slow and mesmerizing atmospheres of exquisite ritual nature.

Pitch black soundscapes, hypnotizing percussions, distant sampled voices and eerie analogue electronics depict a disquieting scenario of black wizards, dark underground chambers and unholy conjurations. The influence of Mz. 412 can be obviously felt, especially in a track like "The Well" (the CD's highlight, a striking piece of hellish industrial not even Nordvargr himself has been able to create lately), but probably the most appropriate reference is the classic death industrial of Megaptera and the early BDN, as proved by the excellent "Incubi Pt. I". Horrendous screams, infernal voices and terrifying distortions do surface in "Inquietudine", probably the only track where the listener's ears are pushed to the limit of tolerance.

Undoubtedly, Satanismo Calibro 9 is one of the most interesting names surfaced in recent times from the industrial underground. Their blend of ritual sounds, death industrial and noise is extremely intriguing and has absolutely nothing to envy to the biggest names in the scene. Keep an eye on them, with these excellent studio recordings and remarkable live presentation, they could reach far.
